Objectives
The general aim of the AAE is to promote and advance public education in the science of astronomy and to support the teaching of astronomy to students at all levels of education. The particular objects are:
1 To promote a greater interest in, and awareness of, the role of astronomy in education.
2 To increase the effectiveness of astronomy education at all levels through the exchange of information and experience by means of meetings and publications.
3 To be a responsible body able to provide informed and authoritative advice on astronomy education.
4 To facilitate co-operation through a network of astronomy resource centres in the UK to provide an extra mural educational service by which practical support and advice may be given to those involved in astronomy education.
5 To seek active participation in the formation and development of school curricula to include astronomy teaching at primary, secondary, tertiary and other levels.
6 To encourage, as deemed appropriate by members, the development of aids for the teaching of astronomy and astronomical topics.
