UK Experts invited by the RAS Education Committee to assist in the judging of the competition and to attend the final event at the Leicester Space Centre.

Julian Baum acted as an expert on artistic matters.

Julian is an artist specialising in scientific themes.  Illustrator of the RAS Life in the Universe leaflet.  He is currently working on material for show at the History of Astronomy conference at Notre Dame University in Indiana.

Alec Boksenberg acted as a scientific expert and in his role as chair of the UNESCO UK Science Sector Committee.

Alec is Chair of the UNESCO UK Science Sector Committee.  He is a long-time space astronomer - involved in the TD1-A, IUE, HST projects - and ground-based astronomer - Director of the Royal Greenwich Observatory and the Royal Observatory Edinburgh.

Mike Bullivant acted as an expert on Chemistry and Media matters.

Mike works part-time as a Course Manager in the Chemistry Department at the Open University, and part-time as a TV/Radio presenter, specialising in science programmes.  He was one of the scientists chosen to appear in the popular prime-time BBC2 science series Rough Science.  He has a PhD in Organic Chemistry, and an interest in the possibility of  'life' beyond that on planet Earth.

Serena Viti acted as an expert on Astrochemistry.

Serena is a lecturer at the Department of Physics and Astronomy at UCL, where she teaches undergraduate courses on Life in the Universe and the Search for Extra-Solar Planets.  Her research interests are in the fields of Astrochemistry and Star and Planetary Formation.
